An interpreter is a specialist in oral communication whose specialised education and perfect knowledge of one or several foreign languages and cultures allows him to transmit all the subtleties and technical difficulties of a speech in any domain.

Simultaneous interpretation takes place in halls equipped with interpretation booths. The term "simultaneous" implies that the speaker and the interpreter speak at the same time.

Consecutive or liaison interpreters transmit a speaker's presentation once it is finished (usually one to ten minutes afterwards). This is often a good option for meetings involving a small number of participants: commercial negotiations, round tables, business lunches…
